The Adventure
"I say, if your knees aren't green by the end of the day, you ought to seriously re-examine your life." ~Bill Watterson, Calvin & Hobbes
That's not reality. And our adventures are often far from that.
If our adventure was like that, all women would be curvy, but the perfect ten, and all men would be insanely handsome and well-built.
But, again, that's not reality.
Reality is dealing with bills and stress, fighting our parents/spouse/children/co-workers, spilling coffee on ourselves on the way to work. It's running late for a meeting or getting a ticket for speeding.
But it is also spending time with our families. Impacting a life. Meeting someone, like a friend, who changes our life. Dealing with the good and the bad. It may not always be glamorous, or the stuff dreams are made of, but it's an adventure. For those who say it isn't, well, they just aren't paying attention.
The adventure is in the little things, but the important things. It's not in those things we often let bog us down, it's in those things we tend to overlook. Things like, landing a new job, seeing a kid score a basketball goal for the first time, getting your first kiss. It's also in teaching your dog a new trick, watching your child learn to handle something tricky on their own, or just having a good day.
It's in finding your way.
Sure, that may mean you never leave your hometown, but that doesn't mean your life is unimportant or dull. Your life is your own, make it what you want. Perhaps you are dull, but don't blame life. Get up and do something about it. Or change your perspective.
Maybe you just need to inside yourself and realize the adventure you are living. And enjoy that adventure. Life's too short to find that you missed out on the greatest aspects of it.
It brings to mind some songs by Steven Curtis Chapman. Below is one titled, "Do Everything."
And while I may not know you I bet I know you
Wonder sometimes does it matter at all
We'll let me remind you it all matters just as long as youDo everything you do to the glory of the One who made you
Cause He made you to do
Every little thing that you do to bring a smile to His face
And tell the story of grace
With every move that you make
And every little thing you do
Here is, "Do Everything"
And below is a freebie, titled "Long Way Home," just because I love it :)
(I chose the K-Love video, because it's live.)
